Started just past Shagg Pond. Followed an old road into the woods to Little Concord Pond. Then a sharp right up to Bald Mtn (1692’) with great views overlooking Shagg Pond. From Bald Mtn the route drops steeply into a col, which was carpeted on both sides with luscious fields of moss, then up to Speckled Mountain (2183’) with 360 degree views. The back side of Mount Mollyocket was visible and we could picture Moose Pond just the other side. The trail is easy to follow, the woods consist of conifers with limited understory, slabs and ledges. 5.2 miles of easy walking, big bang for the buck here.
